A/N Ngl I was goinh to delete this one just cause I was having so much trouble with, not even romance just non-platonic? But boy am I glad I din’t cause I had fun and I really liked how it turned out! I really went off in shanks and his parental decisions in this one

“Well, look who is back,” Dokucha called with a smile as she watched the familiar crew walk into the bar.

“I’m guessing your treasure hunt was successful then?” She teased as she began rolling out tankards towards the crew, who threw cheers at the barmaid

“Ready as always, Dokucha,” Yassop called as he took hold of his tankard.

“I can’t let my best customers go thirsty now, could I? Nor hungry,” she called as she passed by his table, dropping a plate of the fish of the current season in front of the man, bordered by a few crustaceans.

“Yahahaha, you actually remembered?!” He called as he took one of the crustaceans and plopped it in his mouth

“Of course!” She grinned, throwing the man a wink as she dropped a plate of chicken meat to the man sharing Yassop’s table

“Din’t forget about you, Lucky Dear.”

"Jajaja! Thank you Dokucha!"

“At your service.”

“What about you two gentlemen?” She teased as she pulled out two glasses for the men who sat at the bar

“Willing to take a risk with me again?” She asked as she began to mix drinks in front of them

“Dahahaha! You always manage to hit the mark with your drinks, Dokucha!” Shanks cackled as he nodded his head toward the woman.

She shook her head as she let out a giggle at his usual overexcited attitude as he looked towards his first mate.

“What about you, Beck? Up for the challenge?”

“For you, Darlin’ always.”

“Alright!” she exclaimed as she continued mixing drinks, occasionally stopping to blend fruits to add to them.

“And here you go!” she said, sliding a green drink to the Captain, topped with a couple of Kiwi. To the vice-captain, she slid a glass with golden liquid, topped by a lone cherry as a garnish.

“What are they?” Beckmann questioned, taking a small sip of the drink

“Oh! It’s sake?!” Shanks beams as he tastes his own drink

“Yes! It’s a Caipisake! I know you always say there is no better drink than the one in East Blue. So I present to you the traditional and most famous drink in the Goa kingdom: a cocktail with a base of sake.” she babbled out as she gestured to the fruity cocktail.

“Beck, I made you a Manhattan. It has a base of Black rum, which has a smokey flavor since I noticed you tend to enjoy those more.”

“I taste a sweet undertone,” he called, glancing up at her.

“Mmhm! That would be the sweet vermouth.” She gushed.

“Dokucha, you have got to sail on the Red Force with us; I can’t possibly survive the rough sea without your brew. Here, I thought sake would be enough for me, but sweetcheeks, you have a knack for changing a man!” Shanks proclaimed as he swirled his glass and downed it

“Despite his overdramatic, he is not wrong, Darlin’. Every time we come, you make something different, and every time, I leave with a new favorite,” Beck spoke, ignoring the protests and whines the redhead threw his way.

“I-It’s nothing; it would be bad if I couldn’t do this much,” she said, a meek smile on her face, as she continued to continue drinks and food to the crew, blind to the knowing glances the men shared between them.

She frowned, watching as Luffy ran off, not paying attention to her. Regardless, she continued walking, approaching the pier and the man who sat on it.

“May I ?” She asked, gesturing to the now empty spot beside him, filling it once she had received a small nod from the first mate.

“That went horribly wrong,” he sighed, letting out a puff of smoke.

“I believe it went as good as it could have gone.” she corrected, gazing back towards the sea before them.

“With Luffy storming off once again?” he gaped, turning to look at her.

“Come on, Beck, you have been with him long enough. Luffy is Luffy; your words won’t reach him instantly; he needs time for the words to reach him in his own way at his own time.”

“I’m not sure they will this time,” he called, gesturing towards the mountain Luffy had disappeared too.

“You think he will be able to forgive the boss?”

“I know he will. His emotional intelligence is quite high for such a young boy. He reminds me of you in that way,” she grinned, making her way in front of the man as she kneeled down and took hold of his hands, much to his shock.

“Thank you, Beckmann, for always watching over my nephew and for being such a kind soul; I know this situation with Uta has been hard on you too, so thank you because, despite your pain, you still are trying to help others.”

“You’re killing me here, Darlin, he called as he gingerly grasped her hand, placing a small kiss on it, his signature cigarette now long gone.

“I made a mistake.” He sighed

Shanks had just returned from Elegia just hours before and to say that he was heartbroken was an understatement. So much had occured in so little time, he had to fight his own daughter who under the control of the music demon had ravaged trough the town. Ultimately, after he and his crew had managed to defeat it, he decided to leave Uta behind, taking the blame for the destruction of the town.

“It’s not an easy situation,” she started, slightly smiling as she continued drying her glassware.

“But I would go back. AH. Ah.” She tutted, putting a finger up as she noticed Shanks’ attempt to interrupt.

“Shanks. You made a choice a decade ago; you could have chosen to find her a different home and leave the chest with someone else that day. But you chose to parent her instead; you took the responsibility, and so now you keep that responsibility.” she scolded, by now having left the safety of the bar as she stood in front of the man to take her point across

“I know you think this is what’s best for her, but is it really? You just left her behind and had someone tell her, ‘Oh yeah, the people who have cared for you your whole life and who you admire deeply just destroyed, ransacked the town, and left you, sorry! But don’t worry, I’ll make you the greatest singer!” she rambled, her voice taking a higher pitch as she imitated the mayor’s voice.

“Dokucha, she has a dream. I cannot keep her from achieving it by keeping her tied to the crew,” he frowned, looking away from the mixologist.

“How is her being with her family tying her down? Had she asked to leave the crew, would you have stopped her?”

“No-

“No! If she wishes to leave, she can make that decision herself, Shanks. She is a child, a very loved one. So Yes, of course, she won’t leave her family regardless of her dream right now, she’s 12, but kids grow up and independentize, and they should do so with the support of their family. She should not be following her dream on a far-off island with some old man, thinking that her family left her behind whilst destroying the town of that said old man!”

“Dokucha i-

“Answer me this: do your crewmates not have their own dreams they are trying to achieve?” She questioned ignoring the man’s attempt to step in

“They do, each of them does, but it is not the same.”

“But it is,” she answered softly, putting one of her hands on his cheek to get his attention.

“A crew can have dreams while being on the crew, just like their Captain does; they reach those dreams with their family, their crew. None of them have given up on their dream, and you would never ask that of them; rather, you do everything in your power to support them, don’t you? That’s what Uta needs.”

He stared at her for a while, eventually leaving out a scoffed laugh as he shook his head. He had been sure of his decisions Days prior as he believed that leaving Uta behind following the rise of Tot Musica would be the best for both of them. It would keep his daughter safe and it would enable her to finally go after her lifelong dream but after hearing the point of view of an outsider his previous decision definitely seemed….stupid.

“Thank you, Dokucha, I will, I will get my daughter back,” he stated

“But you know I’ve never seen this side of you; you have always been so sweet-spoken, never took you for the bossy type,” he teased.

Her face flushes at his words as she backs away from him, putting her hands on her face as if to make herself invincible.

“T-Th- I ju- I just wanted to make my point!” she sputters out.

“Mmhm,” he hums, resting his hand on the bar counter as he leans his cheek on, watching the woman try to compose herself.

“R-Regardless! Luffy is here, s-so get yourself together,” She grumbled.

Listen Like I said I went off on Shanks, someone had to tell him 💅🏽 .And Somebody had to tell my man Beckman! Cause we see you Beck we see your hard work!!

WICKED FURRY ART BLEHHHHHHH I was stuck in a really bad art block for a while so I switched things up and drew some furry Rageons instead of normal Rageons haha

This was so much fun I highly recommend making fursonas for your ocs if you’re ever in an artblock it is like- freeing. I put the same pics on my insta so don’t mind the double post whoopsies

Some info:

the twins are Emerald Tree Boas, they’re green and gorgeous and have a wicked set of fangs (look it up it’s metal)

Kid Ritz is a White Spotted Jellyfish- look it up on google he literally looks exactly like one when he has his hat on it’s uncanny. Was gonna make him a Blue Bottle Jelly but I just couldn’t get past the similarity of the white spotted so I settled on that (plus they’re totally adorable and squishy) his guts are kinda visible through his semi translucent ‘skin’ 😰😰

Rhinestone is a Purple Sea Urchin 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ she means well but might take your eye out when going in for a hug if she doesn’t have her spines tied up- be careful!!

Then I made all the trolls little bugs since they’re so tiny. I thought it would be weird if they were the same/similar sizes to the Rageons since their size difference is such an important factor to their relationships with each other so I have hereby decided that all troll species are different kinds of bugs 😌😌 Brozone are different kinds of beetles (Genji firefly, stag beetle, giraffe weevil, rhino beetle, mint leaf beetle) and Poppy is a rosy maple moth because she’s so cute and pink and fluffy (Viva too)

Cold Hands, Warm Heart Day 1 - "Your hands are freezing!" Fandom: Love and DeepSpace Pairing: Sylus/f!OC Word Count: 1223 Read on Ao3 Banner by firefly-graphics

Walking down the street, Sylus ignored the looks he was getting. His head was pounding even with the sunglasses on and he knew he was almost at his limit. He should have put his foot down about this meeting. The jeweller was renowned in both Linkon City and the N109 and because of that the man was stingy with his time for personal meetings. They were costly and sparse and even with his influence, Sylus had had to work to get the meeting.

But he shouldn’t have taken a meeting in the middle of the day, no matter how beneficial it had been.

About the only good thing about today was that his commission had been accepted and he’d paid enough to ensure it would be ready before Christmas. The jeweller had actually seemed excited about the piece, making his own suggestions on top of the basic idea that Sylus had had. The old man had nearly fallen out of his chair at the gems that he’d presented for the piece and had shown a moment’s hesitation as he had realized he was dealing with more than Sylus had presented himself as. But the man had wanted to make the piece and that desire had overridden everything else.

Now that the meeting was over, he just had to get back to the car and he could turn in for the rest of the day. Even if it had been successful, he didn’t want to do anything else until he’d slept. Everything else could fucking wait.

Turning a corner, his steps faltered for a moment before lengthening his stride. The jeweller’s shop was in a market square that was especially crowded with the holiday season approaching. It was bustling with people, moving from shop to shop, and it should have been hard to spot a single person in this sea. But he stood taller than most of them and he would recognize her anywhere.

Calliope was standing outside a shop, a paper cup in her hands that she was gingerly sipping at as she watched the crowd move past her. As he got closer, he saw her nose wrinkle as whatever beverage was in the cup fogged up her glasses and he smiled at the sight.

“Look who I found,” he purred as he came up to her.

Big blue eyes blinked at him before widening. “Sylus! What are you doing here?”

He cocked a brow at her and didn’t say anything.

She stared at him in confusion for a moment before she huffed. “I know it’s the holiday season but you don’t have to be this secretive about your shopping,” she muttered.

Yes he did. He wanted every present he gave her to be a surprise. “What are you doing here, kitten?” he asked back at her.

She gave him a coy look from behind her glasses and he chuckled.

“Fair enough.” Reaching out, he stroked a curl back from her face, grazing her with his fingertips. He wasn’t ready for her to gasp and jerk away from him. “Kitten?”

“Your hands are freezing!” Calliope said, shifting her grip on her cup to one hand while she reached for his with the free one. “Sylus, how long have you been outside? Why aren’t you wearing gloves?”

He honestly hadn’t noticed that they were cold. “It’s not that bad.”

The look she gave him this time was the furthest thing from coy. It was borderline angry. “Uh huh. Which one of us is the nurse?” she asked, her voice far too sweet. “And which one is the dummy standing in the cold without gloves?”

His eyes flicked down to her gloveless hands before returning to her face.

Her eyes narrowed at him, daring him to say it.

His mouth twitched into another smile and he kept silent this time.

Watching him for a long moment as if waiting for him to change his mind, she finally gave his hand a squeeze. “You should be wearing gloves,” she said, voice softening.

Shifting his hand in her grip, he threaded their fingers together. “I prefer this.”

Her fingers twitched against his before curling against the back of his hand. “Were you heading home?”

He had been planning to get to the closest safe house and crashing until the sun set. But she was a pleasant surprise he wasn’t going to ignore. “That doesn’t matter. Were you?”

She was eyeing him again and he knew she’d seen through him but she didn’t call him on it. “Not yet,” she admitted. “I still have some shopping to do and I was thinking about having something to eat.”

It was his turn to eye her. “You have eaten, haven’t you?”

“I had breakfast and a snack before I came here.”

Leaning down, he brushed a kiss across her forehead. “Then shall we find somewhere to eat?”

She finished whatever was in her little paper cup before disposing it and cupping his hand between both of hers. “Let’s just get inside so you can warm up. You really shouldn’t be out here at this time.”

“It was necessary,” he said, looking over the crowd at the buildings around them. While there were cafes, they were likely to be busy. He wanted something that would offer at least a modicum of privacy but this wasn’t his neighbourhood and he hadn’t been planning on going anywhere but the jewellers. “Any recommendations, sweetie?”

Calliope hummed softly and immediately started walking. “There’s a place me and Carrow like when we come here. It’s a little expensive so we only come during the holidays as a treat for ourselves.”

She could damn well go whenever she wanted. Nothing was too expensive. Of course, she kept leaving the card he gave her at his place instead of taking it. “Your sister won’t like that you’re taking me there.”

“She’ll have to deal with that on her own,” she said, leading him around a corner. “The sooner she accepts that you aren’t going anywhere, the easier all of this will be.”

But her sister was as stubborn as he was and she took particular offence to his interest in Calliope. The Hunter would probably perish on the spot if she ever realized how much he loved her sister, how intertwined their lives actually were. “You aren’t going to tell her, are you?”

Calliope shrugged. “If she asks me what I did, I’m not going to lie and say I didn’t see you. I work with her boyfriend but you don’t see me telling her to shut up when she won’t stop talking about him. She can handle it.”

“And do you not stop talking about your boyfriend?” he teased.

She fell quiet for a moment and looked up at him. “It’s hard to talk about you without telling lies but the girls on my floor want every detail I give them.”

“What details?”

“Not those details!”

Sylus chuckled and tugged her closer. “You’re blushing, sweetie. What were you thinking about?”

Her nose wrinkled and she quickly looked away. “We need to get you inside,” she said, ignoring his question. “You’re still too cold.”

He smiled as she tried to get ahead of him to pull him down the sidewalk but his stride outstripped hers and kept him by her side. Exactly where he was supposed to be.

Bonus Pressure OC, Eryl Stellamaris Prescott! Lore and shit under the cut

She was a marine biologist interning with Urbanshade. She was moved to the Blacksite to conduct more research on the effects of the experiments and then hired, though in her contract to be hired it included a "medical study". She assumed it was related to the pressure when she couldn't get answers and relented. Now she's a sea monster mixed with leafy sea dragon, great seahorse, oceanic white-tip shark, lionfish and firefly squid DNA. Due to her size, resilience and prehensile tail she's been forced to become a maintenence tech at the site. Even after its lockdown and fall into disrepair she does her job nearly desperately, knowing she can't ever go back.

She dislikes Wall Dwellers because they mess up her walls, she doesn't mind the Good People but doesn't like that they mess with the doors and she has to fix them, she's neutral with Sebastian but they're both on shaky ground and try not to interact because she worked for Urbanshade and he's hard to read whether or not his sass is mean or teasing. She loves the Eyefestation though, and it often hangs around her when she does outside repairs, making sure she doesn't drift too far away in the currents if there's no debris to grab. She doesn't really mind the anglers, but Pandemonium and the Searchlights are her close seconds to favorites right behind Eyefestation. She hates the Trenchbleeders because she used to have to fix them constantly, but she hates them for the work and them killing Searchlights, not just because they exist.

Due to her DNA mix ahes bioluminescent and swims closer to a sea snake or shark. If she was in game she'd be a rare occurrence, close to the same rate as regular pandemonium, appearing in rooms with glitching doors or landslides above water (less than a quarter of the time) or hallways with the missing walls underwater. Her only dialogues would be to herself about how she doesn't get paid enough- or at all- for this or how she doesn't get it. During the Ridge she's just as rare, with a 1/100 chance to appear. She works like an Angler, on a node system, and just rushes through. The warning dialog is more mumbles about how this will be too much to fix or why she didn't kill the player earlier to avoid this mess. She's about 13'5 when standing (compared to a 5'2 Little Fucker for reference) but closer to 25'8 when fully stretched out. Due to her tail being formed with two parts seahorse DNA its stronger and able to hold her upright despite being relatively short compared to her full length.

Z-15 "The Captain"

Samantha Reign was around their late 30's - early 40's and a naval captain of the military when they had been framed for causing a ship to explode the day they were supposed discharged for misconduct & mental health reasons.

They were framed by someone under the name of James Kane, another asset of Urbanshades. (I need to make him, idk what to call him tho.)

Sam was tested under the same human turned fish expriments as Sebastian and the Anglers, mixed with the following; Sea Angel, Sea Bunny & Firefly Squid.

originally before being adopted by UrbanShade as a subject, had lost their leg to it being blasted off from the same thing that had killed the majority of Navy Vessel 628-B (the thing they were framed for.)

Right up there is Toss (and the series Bloodlines it’s part of), just being able to knock out some quick silly and whumpy fic and post them pretty quickly is a huge achievement for me. While they’re interconnected, the pics can also stand alone and I’m not stuck agonizing over chapters.

Scorched Earth is also a big one, as a lot of it was written by the seat of my pants and while I knew vaguely where I wanted to end up, the fic has expanded a lot outside the initial idea. And has been giving me even more ideas for spin offs and world building (especially where the Acolytes are concerned).

Wilted Flower for a Broken Pet is another, as it was so heavy on the OC and having to build up world building for her to figure out how her character ticked beyond the small bit I had in Break Point.

It’s been getting harder lately, with my job change to an office setting, and doing a lot of data review. Then coming home and sitting at a computer to write is just a little exhausting atm. I do have more time to write now, bc I don’t have to worry as much about getting up at stupid-o’clock anymore, but it’s still at a learning curve/getting used to the new shift.

Two surprised me a lot, though she really shouldn’t have. I love antagonists, and the more unhinged they are the better (makes sense as my fave villains are Ganondorf, Maleficent, Kefka, and GLaDOS…) I didn’t really expect her to take over for the last few chapters for Scorched Earth, though.

The windows and door to the balcony faced the east, and rattled as the wind picked up. Two turned just in time to see the black cloud rise up in the distance. It surged up in a pillar not unlike smoke, then roiled across the sky at incredible speed. For a moment, the shriek of the wind and the rattle and shattering of glass about the Manor was all that could be heard— —then the cloud reached them, and all went black. The very air felt thick, a dark presence in it that pressed heavily down all around her. Two smiled as it rejuvenated her, the very essence of the darkness coiling about her like an affectionate pet.

Now that I think of it, there’s also this one from Friends:

Zale squeaked as B’st grabbed and lifted him off of Valere. Rockie gave a questioning chirp at the sound, eyeing the Blade Dancer with an even more interested look, wriggling excitedly behind Malkomud’s restraining hands. “Oh, no…” Zale whispered, staring down at the eager salamander from where he dangled in B’st’s hands. Malkomud and Garl both carefully placed themselves in front of the wriggling Rockie, hands up like they could stop her from getting to Zale. “Rockie, no!” “Ooof!” There was a chime of glass as B’st was bowled over by the overexcited salamander, and a yelp from Zale as Rockie picked him up in her mouth once more. He dangled horizontally in her mouth, pushing and kicking ineffectively to get free. The salamander gently tightened her grip on him, and Zale produced another, drawn out squeak. She excitedly romped about the cavern, each bound producing more squeaking from her captive. Garl, B’st, and Malkomud immediately gave chase, which only encouraged the salamander more in a game of keep-away. “Rockie, put him down, please!” *squeak* “Oh, dear!” *squeak-squeak-squeak* “Ooof! Help!” *squeak-squeeeaaak* “Hold on, Zale!” Valere curled into the pillows with a high pitched cackle as Rockie evaded her friends, tears leaking from her eyes as she wiped at the slime Zale had smeared on her.

how did you grow as a writer last year:

So, so many words! I can’t remember a time where I wrote this much! Also, been repeating the mantra of, “It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be done.” It’s helped with me getting things to paper.

how do you hope to grow this year: 

Sit on the completed bits a bit longer, with more time between feeling it’s ready to post and the final read through. I get so impatient with wanting to post once I’ve gotten a chapter into a good place. (If you’ve ever seen the comic with the cat batting a fic off the counter and immediately going down and asking the fic, “comments?” Yeah, that’s me.)

I’ve been meaning to go back and make some minor edits and add clarifications to some chapters (I’ve realized that I’ve not really put in descriptions for a lot of the OCs in my fic, or of side characters. There’s a fine line between over describing and under describing, and I’ve overcorrected to under describing…)

who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer, beta, cheerleader, etc.):

So, so many people, but @smaller-comfort and @neoyi-backstreetback have been big positive influences, to just geek out with and expand on world building! I’m so bad at maintaining friendships and the like, and this fandom has really allowed me to grow!

anything from your real life show up in your writing last year: A lot of quirks of mine get shoved onto characters. Zale’s squeaking when poked and biting at his lips are me. I’m sure there are other quirks that have made it into other characters too, but pretty sure those are not as deliberate.

any projects you’re looking to starting (or finishing) this year: I’m looking forward to finishing Scorched Earth! It’s rare that I go into fic with any kind of plan, and this one was a bit more deliberate on how I approached it.

I do want to write more for Olgan and Kemal, maybe even get some ideas down for Lorilei (Zelda OC). We’ll see.

The Roblox pressure fandom has me in a chokehold, so I have succumb to the urge to make an experiment fishe oc except I cannot draw so you’ll have to use your imagination here(while also probably looking up pictures of the species I list😅). The amount of time I have spent looking up aquatic species is outstanding, but here goes!

Fair warning, I consider myself rather cringey at making ocs so, yes, if it is so obviously a cringey self insert I am aware of that

Name: Z-19, codename “Dragonfly”

Nicknames: Shrimp, Firefly, Spark, Nemo

Main story: Used to be really good at swimming as a kid and were talking to their coach about possibly getting their dream of becoming a mermaid/professional swimmer, while also being like a superhero if they came with and so being a stupid kid they agreed. They were kidnapped and experimented on in order to make them optimum for exploring. They made it seem „cool” and tried their past to reduce pain as much as possible, and so by the time they finished their training sometime around the age of like 20 they basically had Stockholm syndrome and moreso gratitude towards Urbanshade than anything. They only begin to open their eyes to how much childhood was taken from them after they meet Sebastian and decide to become a shop assistant and aid in his plan for escape and getting revenge.

DNA donor species:

REDACTED-gives tentacles sharp edges that can be used for self-defense or otherwise harm. Also makes them generally resistant to radioactivity, aiding them when exploring more radioactive sites

Clownfish-mainly influences colour(making what would be otherwise blue parts orange with red hues), allows to be omnivorous despite preference for meat, occasional popping+clicking noises in communication

Humbolt squid-entire body flashes red when threatened or flustered

Firefly squid- glow in the dark specs all over body, used for light navigation

Blue glaucus-main external physical feature structure determinent, ear fins as well as additional fins on both legs and arms resemble these but in orange colour(see “Clownfish”), as well as small, stubby black horns on the forehead. Behaviouristic characteristics include curling into a ball as a protective mechanism as well as a suspected tendency to float carelessly on their back when on the water’s surface, though this cannot be confirmed as this was a habit even before DNA transplant

Sea Anemone-allows for retraction and lengthening of tentacles

Generally: genderfluid because of many donor species being flexible in sex, high preference for meat due to majority carnivorous donor species, can exist in any temperature water(for exploratory purposes), short fluffy ginger hair remains suprisingly intact, skin is largely, but not completely, covered in orange scales, eyes are entirerly black in colour including the sclera, teeth are noticably sharp due to various donors. Note: tentacles come from the back of the subject for ease of movement, they have retained their limbs even if having fins on them. Said tentacles are also black in colour, like the little nub horns

Silly little fun fact section(because I might add random trivia here as I come up with it):

•They don’t exactly remember why they do it(having long forgotten their parents because they were kidnapped at the age of like 5, 6 tops) but because they used to lightly guilt trip their mom into not smoking as a kid they now do so to Sebastian once they get to know each other more and there’s yk, an actual bond and trust(albeit most likely unsuccessfully). Before a bond was built they probably just silently judged him for it and perhaps occasionally held their breath/coughed

•The code name “Dragonfly” comes from the combination of both the firefly squid and the Blue glaucus, which has the more common name Blue Dragon!

•I imagine, since they’re immune to eyefestation’s radioactivity, this would lead to a rather humorous interaction when they’re avoiding looking at the shark but eventually get annoyed with the insistent pleading and just snap back at it and stare it down, much to eyefestation’s suprise(because, yk, they’re not used to people staring them down bc it usually kills them?). Tbh I imagine Eyefestation would he so taken off-guard by this that it would swim away, confused and flabbergasted, the poor puppy shark 😭

•even if they wanted to, they could not ever really befriend the squiddles considering how they automatically produce light from their bioluminescencent spots in darkness

•the Firefly squid wasn’t considered in their initial DNA plan, it had only been included as a „bandaid fix” after Urbanshade realised that they tended to get claustrophobic in dark unlit places, not wanting to spend extra resources on providing them with light equipment

•game-role wise, I’m pretty terrible at fitting characters in-universe well so excuse any cringey mary-sueness. They would play a role very similar to Painter, as in being allied with Sebastian to thwart Expendables in making it to the Crystal, but they would be more deceitful than Painter in their intentions. They would act almost as a guide, occasionally helping, doing stuff like helping Expendables out of a dark room if they stay there long enough. Their biggest role would be in replacing the second appearance of search-lights as the main threat at the end of the game. Twist-villain basically. Not quite sure what their gameplay mechanic would be(obviously they would kill with their tentacles but I’m not sure what you would do to avoid it. All I know is that, like painter, they would have some voice lines when they kill you, probably things like „sorry”, „it had to be done” , „we can’t let it happen”, „*shaky sigh*”, „forgive me”, etc.

•they can both easily feign niceness, maybe even genuinely having a little bit of fun helping out the expendables, and are genuinely silly and affectionate with Sebastian and some other entities(room for expansion, haven’t considered it yet). They, however, HEAVILY dissociate to a mostly robot-sort of carrying out orders state when killing, mostly as a result of their past combat conditioning by Urbanshade

•Originally, their primary objective was to kill Sebastian. Obtaining the crystal was also in their mission but it wasn’t their main goal. But [plot] , [character development] and essentially Sebastian opened up their eyes to how much their childhood was robbed from them, and wanting revenge they, at first reluctantly(because of how much of a prick he can be, be fr) joined forces with sebastian in his mission of blackmailing urbanshade yada yada, only gradually over time forming a genuine connection

•Aside from „helping” Expendables+Their role at the end of the game, they mostly do drop-offs at the beginning of the game, occasionally bring some items with them to sell to Expendables in a pinch(for example, if they get stuck in a Turret room with a keycard, theres a chance for them to show up with a Code-Breaker, that kinda thing. Running low on health? Might bring a med-kit. Basically extending Sebastian’s data-gathering business by taking advantage of situations where expendables might desperately need certain items, under the guise of being helpful. Occasionally, they will also attempt to sell “pretty trinkets” they find around the Blacksite/the nearby perimeter of it; they’re not worth anything and don’t do anything either. But they’re pretty cheap and mostly just a little hobby of theirs. They also, as mentioned before with their role at the end of the day, essentially do Sebastian’s „dirty work”, which includes picking apart the bodies for items to recycle into the shop business etc. This is mostly to utilise their ability to dissociate somewhat well when performing horrific actions in contrast to sebastian who(despite probably not wanting to admit it) wants to preserve his humanity atleast somewhat(I headcanon he can sometimes flip out and rampage on people but is freaked out by the aftermath :<) TLDR: Sebastian’s little henchman/sidekick, whatever u wanna call it

•The Imaginary Friend gets voicelines like „don’t trust them” when around them, so they’re not very fond of the imaginary friend. Besides, they find them pretty freaky and creepy

•they are likely somewhat friendly rivals with Painter, both secretly trying to outdo one another to impress sebastian(hence why they like to offer code breachers in the turret rooms to make Painter’s work pointless >:3)

•when you climb on sebastian and you can see the little area post the railing above the desks, that’s where their little living area would be.

a few scattered ramblings about my twst oc!

> her name is ceto and she's an anglerfish mermaid from a very deep, dark depth in the coral sea. her eyes are milky white and aren't very reliable at times, so in human form she doesn't have the best eyesight. she wears prescription color contact lenses because she thinks glasses are troublesome to keep up with. also, she thinks pink eyes are pretty. as soon as she came to the surface, one of the first things she did was cut her hair to match the style of a drowned woman she happened upon when she strayed from her usual depths. it's a jellyfish cut. additionally, her nails are always sharp and manicured, painted in various patterns of hot pink.

> she has sharp, needle-pointed teeth like an anglerfish's. she likes to smile and show off her teeth, but her smiles are a little too eerie and wide most of the time, which unsettles most people. she dresses in a lot of formal business fashion. black and pink is the main color scheme in her wardrobe. she wears a lot of ocean-themed jewelry, but her go-to are the fishbone hair clips which she fashioned from the bones she finds on the sea floor.

> she's very energetic and friendly, if a bit morbidly disturbed at times with her odd sense of humor and textbook knowledge on the strangest, most obscure subjects (which cause most to avoid her), and despite her fearlessly outgoing and curious nature no one seems to know much about her.

> she likes rumors and gossip and will often spread them in passing. for that reason, you should be selective with what you choose to tell her.

> in mer form, she does have an esca like an anglerfish! in human form, it acts as her tonsils (it glows at night). her unique magic is called “bocca della veritá,” and it’s a spell that allows ceto to learn of the afflicted victim's deepest fears, secrets, or insecurities. when someone looks into her open mouth, their reality falls away and is replaced with that of their greatest terror, forcing them to confront things they may not want to confront. ceto doesn't use her um often, but she does like to playfully warn others not to stare at her too much or else they may just open their eyes to a nightmare.

> she is interested in the art of pinning insects and can spend hours poring over textbooks and video essays on the subject. she keeps a journal of dried and pressed flowers and has even tried to collect and pin a few insects of her own. butterflies and fireflies are her favorites.
